Affinity Electric recently removed – then installed a new chandelier for in the entrance foyer of a residential home in Parker, CO. This homeowner in Parker, CO asked us for help for good reasons!
- They wanted to install heavy, iron chandelier.
- The ceiling in their foyer was 20 feet tall.
- They didn’t have a ladder that would reach that high
- they didn’t think it was a safe project to even attempt.
- They also had to take down the old chandelier
- Overall it was best to call in a professional electrician
Installing a chandelier in a tall ceiling presents a challenge due to multiple risk factors including:
- Falling from a tall ladder while holding a cumbersome and heavy light fixture
- Chandeliers are typically hung from the highest point in your foyer
- Dangerous issues with wiring and connecting fixtures to electricity
- Improper installation of the Fixture which can cause fuses to blow and/or electrical fires
- Accidentally dropping your lighting fixture
- Many home owners don’t even have a ladder high enough to reach this height!
Consider this… at one point you’ll be holding a heavy (and breakable) chandelier in one hand while the other hand is trying to connect it to the electrical hardware in the ceiling – all while balancing on the ladder (without using your hands). Sounds more like a circus act than anything safe!
If you’re looking to install a new light chandelier or light fixture, (especially up high) we recommend hiring an experienced, licensed electrician from Affinity Electric – your local Parker electricians! Installing a new light fixture in the foyer of some homes can be a challenge (and dangerous) – especially when the foyer is 20 feet tall. Affinity Electric is frequently called to install light fixtures and for the larger homes with tall foyers it’s probably a wise (and safest) choice to bring in a licensed electrical contractor to take care of this project for you.
